iRacing Qualifying Cheat

What do you mean you don’t know of the iRacing Qualifying cheat. It’s not precisely new, in fact it’s been around since Nascar 4 and originates with Grand Prix Legends.

Here’s what you do, before qualifying, do a circle. This will ensure that the last lap, of an even lap qualifying, will be the fastest.

Now it’s only by a few tenths, and really only is seen at Daytona and Talladega but the amount that you would save was the spread of the last DWC qualifying.

Oh … and the loophole has been fixed so there’s really no reason to try it.

The link is a very interesting read and goes into how Dave K found and fixed the issue. It’s also interesting how long it was there and how a small, tiny rounding error can manifest itself years later.

My personal thoughts on the matter are that, folks will always try things to get what they can. Real life crew chief’s are the same, always pushing the rules to get what they can. We just have more time to do it and the rules tend to move slower.

I’m not saying it’s right and I have better things to do with my time than search for exploits. It’s also not a valid excuse to say you are always being beaten on the track due to cheats. Most of the time it’s just due to other folks being faster.

Enjoy!
