I’m excited to announce that we’re moving to a new server, one that lets us host others and give great service and rates on everything from Domains to hosting and custom themes.
It should also allow more time for writing guides and helping take your racing to the next level.
Keep the sticky side down.
A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes lately. I’ve just uploaded the latest version of the Busta Wrench Guide, and have been working on the site layout.
There was a lot of good feedback on the last update with the darker colors. I thought the theme was a little restrictive and wanted to use more of the screen. Most of us have big or at least wide screen monitors and there was a lot of wasted space.
I’m moving to more of a community feel and if you want to contribute and participate, that would awesome. The more feedback we get on setups, tools, site etc the better resource this site will be for the Sim Racing Community.
I’m really excited about this year, with the Ruf releases for iRacing they’ve really stepped up and those cars are a blast to drive. DriveClub is due to drop sometime mid year for the PS4 and that is something I’m looking forward to, especially looking forward to having a few folks playing together for giggles.
I’ve finally got hold of Gran Tourismo 6 and that’s been a blast too.
This year we should also see RFactor 2 go more prime time and the release of Project Cars all really good stuff.
Drop a comment and let us know what you’re looking forward to. I’ve reopened site sign-up and you can log in using Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook.
Cheers and have fun out there.

Here is my best run from my first go at AutoX.
I managed to get another race in 2013 which included taking Stacey on a couple of runs which she enjoyed a lot.
Looking forward to 2014 and several more runs.
My Wife is on record as saying that @iRacing www.iRacing.com has made me a smooth fast driver.
She could really tell the difference between those drivers that were sawing away at the wheel and those who had more time behind the wheel. My car is a stock 2013 Subaru WRX.
Ok, now back to setup work.
Ron Howard is at the helm of Rush, the much anticipated Formula 1 movie.
The hope is that it will a race fan’s homage to a great era in the sport, re John Frankenheimer’s Grand Prix, rather than the sham that was Driven.
A movie so bad that F1 kicked them out and they finished / re-shot it as a CART movie.
The movie centers on the battle between Niki Lauda and James Hunt, and includes the ’76 crash that nearly claimed Niki’s life.
I’m very much looking forward to this movie.

Bike Gymhkana really?
I didn’t know until recently that there is a really gnarly bike drifting scene going on. Looks to have come out of supermoto, and some of those crazy guys getting it side ways.
The guys name is Jorian Ponomareff and he does some really nice stuff.
Check this one … pretty cool.
Ok so it’s not strictly racing related, but it’s bloody cool anyway.
Managed to get a look at this today. Must be tough to be so well known. So, Tom, if you aren’t busy this weekend, would you like to come over for a spot of tea and a drive of a Red Bull F1 car? Oh sure why not. Thanks.
I’m not usually into management games, but this one could be a lot of fun. Codemasters have announced F1 Online: The Game.
It’s going to be a free-to-play browser based game where you can take control of a racing team, or create your own. Play against you mates like a fantasy football game or delve in deep to take control of the design aspects of the car and race tactics.
You have quite a wait as it doesn’t launch until Q1 2012.
Head over to the site where you can sign up for email notifications. I’m sure I’ll set up a game and maybe run with some of the folks from the forum here.
Let me know what you think of it.

There was a lot going on this week in Charlotte, NC for the NASCAR All-Star event.
One of the things that slipped through was an announcement from NASCAR and iRacing that there would be a sanctioned simulator division for 2010. Very cool in my opinion.
I’ve been racing online for over a decade now and iRacing is by far the most realistic simulator so far. My wife doesn’t understand my obsession with racing online and thinks I should take up a hobby that doesn’t stress me so much.
My thoughts are that when the racing is good and you have a good result that far out weighs the races where something happens and you end up frustrated. It’s a lot like racing for real. Take care of your gear, exercise a lot of patience and you can be quite successful.
Want to try out iRacing and help me out at the same time?
Head over to www.iRacing.com and sign up for between 1 and 12 months, enter my email address as the referrer and they’ll shower me with presents. Well maybe a hat if I’m lucky. (shane DOT lowry AT orangesands DOT com)
If you sign up now and start learning how it all works, by the time NASCAR events roll around in 2010 you could be on the track with the likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr, Marcos Ambrose, Bobby Labonte and of course me.
Get out on the track and have some fun.
